Finding a tutor still happens by word of mouth because the web has no register of them: directories are pay-to-list, aggregators hide the tutor behind a lead form, and the good ones have a small site nobody finds. subjects.in reads those sites. Every entry is a tutor or a coaching centre with its own website, listed by the subjects it teaches, the levels, the mode and the city, in its own words, with its published contact details and nothing else.
A tutor who is not listed joins through a form, or by emailing join@subjects.in, and a person checks the entry before it goes up. Corrections work the same way. There are no fees and no bookings; the site exists to be found.

The work
The seed came from our own index of the Indian web: sites that read as tutoring, classified and extracted into a register, then mapped onto a taxonomy of about a hundred and fifty subjects and the levels they belong to. The design is a class register: ruled lines, a subject column, a city column, dates. The inbox is an email Worker that files a message into a database and forwards a copy, so a tutor can join from a phone with no form at all.

How it is built
The same shape as readmore.in and playz.in, which were built the same week: SQLite as the pipeline’s memory, a static build, Cloudflare static assets, a Worker for the form and the mail, a daily job. The launch moved the name’s servers through the registrar’s API, so a site goes live without anyone clicking through a control panel.
